Tuesday, July 30 ~ Coastal Cruising and Tromso

The ship went in and out of a scenic passageway during the midnight hour this morning.  It was well worth staying up to see the beautiful scenery.
This morning we attended two interesting lectures on the ship about the Vikings and about Norwegian explorers.
Then we were guided through the Polar Museum in Tromso.  I encountered this Polar Bear on the way back to the ship

We had guessed last night the exact time we would cross the Arctic Circle. It happened at about 8:02 this morning. A special Arctic Circle event took place after breakfast.
One of the ladies in our tour group guessed the correct time right down to the second! She was given the ship’s flag, then ice was poured down her back!
I took part in the ceremony.  Actually, not much ice went down my back. Here is Melissa, our guide.  They made sure that she had two buckets of ice thrown on her!

Sunday, July 28, 2019 ~ Trondheim to Rorvik

After breakfast the ship docked at Trondheim.  Our group disembarked and boarded a bus that took us to a fortress with canons.  There was a panoramic view of the city here.
This is one of the views.  We went inside the cathedral at the end of the city tour. Tomorrow, July 29th is St. Olaf’s Day.  The church was extra busy because of this. Vendors’ stands were on the grounds.

The bicycle shop was closed this Sunday morning.
View as we walked across the bridge

We were given a short tour of the church between services.  The organist was playing on the incredible pipe organ as we walked inside.  I walked over to the organ after the music stopped.  I have never seen such a complicated organ.  We couldn’t take pictures, though.
